The Quran is considered the absolute, unchanged, direct and perfect word of Allah with no human intervention.
When the Quran says, for example: “it is he who spread the Earth and placed therein firmly set mountains”, then it is Allah who is saying this and Allah speaks of himself in third person. In very rare cases, the Quran quotes people or gives people an example of how to pray.
In any case, it is Allah’s word, which is why Muslims say Allah says when they quote the Quran. Therefore, any error in the Quran, any false statement is Allah’s error, since Allah is the Almighty, all knowing God. If there is an error, this means the book is not of such divine origin and is false.
In fact, the Quran itself acknowledges that.
This is a list of scientific mistakes. These might not be in every perspective all the mistakes.
Some people might not agree with one or two of these mistakes. Others will wonder why other mistakes are left out. I try to focus only on those that are really strong mistakes. Some mistakes that are missing because they are up to belief, interpretation, or can’t be verified: are the Earth’s creation in six days?, single incidents where Allah punishes people with natural disasters or the sun and moon speaking, for example.
As a final note, the purpose of this list is not to shame people who believe in the Quran or specifically in these listed things. The purpose is merely to fact check the Quran and to question it.
Let’s start lightly.
